Community Solar is now available in New York State. The program allows everyone to share in the benefits that solar offers. Property owners can generate revenue from unused roof space and land by leasing the space to a company like Harvest Power Solar. The power generated from the installed solar system can be transferred through the local electric utility to any residential or commercial customer interested in buying cleaner power at a reduced rate. Community Solar is a win-win, allowing large property owners the ability to generate revenue while allowing consumers who don’t have the ability to install solar on their building, the ability to go green and save.
Here are a few examples of those that can now take advantage of solar, that in the past weren’t able to:
Renters that pay their electric costs
Residents in a Homeowners Association that won’t permit solar being installed
Non-Profit Organizations looking to reduce their utility costs
Businesses with high energy costs and limited roof space
